
Scouts Courses
Warringah Archers offers group archery sessions for Scouts, Cub Scouts, Girl Guides and similar youth organisations looking to introduce participants to archery in a safe, structured and enjoyable setting.
These sessions are suitable for groups working towards achievement badges or activity requirements, as well as groups simply looking for a memorable outdoor activity. Participants are introduced to the basics of archery, including range safety, equipment handling, shooting technique and supervised practice.
All equipment is supplied by the club, and sessions are run by qualified instructors or coaches. No previous archery experience is required.
Session availability
Scouts and Guides sessions are usually held during daylight saving months, from October to March.
Sessions are available on weekdays only and generally run from:
6:00pm – 7:30pm
Bookings are subject to club availability, instructor availability and suitable weather conditions.
Cost
$15 per participant
The cost includes equipment use and instruction for the session.
What participants will learn
Participants will be introduced to the basic skills and safety procedures used in target archery, including how to:
- handle archery equipment safely
- stand and prepare correctly on the shooting line
- load, aim and shoot under supervision
- follow range commands
- score and collect arrows safely
The focus is on safe participation, confidence and giving each participant a proper introduction to the sport.
What to bring
Participants should wear enclosed shoes and comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor activity. Long hair should be tied back, and loose jewellery or dangling clothing should be avoided.
During warmer months, participants should bring a hat, sunscreen and water bottle.
