Warringah Archers

Head to National Youth Championships
ArcheryNSW has announced its Youth Team for the National Teams Championships, coming up mid-April in Launceston, Tasmania, and Warringah Archers are well represented.
NSW selected 8 Recurve Archers and 8 Compound Archers, with at least 25% female athletes required across the squad. NSW met both criteria, and our club has every reason to celebrate.
Our NSW State Team Members
Maja Kecskes (U21) has been selected for the Recurve team. U21 archers shoot from Red Pegs in the Field discipline at distances ranging from 10m to 60m, before competing in the WA60/900 round (a World Archery Status event) at 60/50/40m. They then move into the National Ranking round at 70m on a 122cm face, followed by head-to-head matchplay.
Eve Whitear (U18) joins the Compound team. U18 archers shoot from Blue Pegs in Field at distances from 5m to 50m, then compete in the WA60/900 round at 60/50/40m. Their National Ranking round is at 50m on an 80cm face, followed by matchplay.
Lily Young (U14) and newcomer Audrey Verzosa (U14) are both selected for the Compound team. U14 archers shoot from Yellow Pegs at distances from 5m to 40m, before competing in the Junior Canberra round of 30 arrows at 40m/30m/20m on a 122cm face, then into the ranking round.

Also Competing for Warringah
Congratulations also to Anna Young (Recurve U18 Female) and Julia Verzosa (Recurve U21 Female), who will be competing at the championships outside the state team.
About the Competition
The Field discipline sees archers shoot 24 targets at a variety of distances and target face sizes, with shots that may be uphill or downhill depending on the terrain. Target faces used in Field are:
- 20cm faces: 4 rows of 3 secured to a target butt
- 40cm faces: 4 secured to a target butt
- 60cm faces: secured to a target butt on their own
- 80cm faces: secured to a target butt on their own
For the team competition, the top 4 scores from each state (regardless of gender) are combined across the Field Championships, Target 900, and 720 Ranking Round.
