ABOUT WARRINGAH ARCHERS

Founded in 1974, Warringah Archers is one of the oldest and most respected archery clubs in New South Wales.
What began as a handful of enthusiasts meeting on the Northern Beaches has grown into a vibrant community that has shaped the sport locally and nationally for more than five decades.

In 2024, the club proudly marked its 50th anniversary, celebrating half a century of competition, camaraderie, and community. Through every era, one thing has remained constant: a shared love of archery and a commitment to making the sport accessible to everyone.

A Club Built by the Community

The story of Warringah Archers is one of teamwork, persistence, and grassroots passion.
In the early days, members worked together to build and maintain the club’s first range, clearing ground, painting targets, and setting up by hand. Every weekend was a labour of love, people of all ages pitching in to create a place to shoot, learn, and connect.

From those beginnings, the club became an enduring part of the Northern Beaches sporting landscape. Over the years it has moved, adapted, and modernised, but the spirit of its founders remains the same; volunteer-driven, inclusive, and dedicated to the pursuit of excellence.

Among the pioneers were Elizabeth and Stephen Jennison and Danny Stasenka, whose vision and commitment laid the foundation for everything that followed.
They set the tone for a club built on generosity, good humour, and quiet determination, values that still define Warringah today. Elizabeth and Stephen would later become Honorary Life Members for their outstanding contribution to both the club and the wider archery community.

Fifty Years of Achievement

Warringah Archers has long been known for nurturing talent.
From its modest beginnings, the club has produced Olympians, Paralympians, and international representatives across both Target and Field disciplines, as well as at Youth and Masters levels.
Our archers have represented New South Wales and Australia, winning medals, setting records, and earning respect within the national archery community.

But just as importantly, Warringah has always been a place for every archer, whether you’re training for national competition or shooting your first set of arrows. Many members stay for decades, drawn by the sense of belonging and the quiet satisfaction of progress measured one shot at a time.

The club maintains an active calendar year-round, encompassing Target, Field, Clout, and Indoor events, as well as social shoots and fun competitions that celebrate participation as much as performance.

Programs for All Ages

Warringah Archers is deeply committed to developing archers of all ages and abilities.
We run regular Come & Try sessions twice a month for newcomers, followed by Beginner Courses every eight weeks that introduce archers to proper form, safety, and scoring.

Graduates can continue into our seasonal AdBow (Adults) and KidBow (Youth) development programs with structured pathways that help archers refine their skills, meet others at their level, and grow in confidence.
Some of our most accomplished competitors began in these very sessions.

There’s no age limit to archery.
If you can listen, focus, and enjoy the rhythm of learning, you’ll find a place here, whether you’re six or sixty-plus.

Our Home on the Northern Beaches

The club operates from the Northern Beaches Secondary College – Cromer Campus, with shooting sessions held on:

  • Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30 AM
  • Monday and Wednesday evenings from 4 pm during daylight saving

Our range is maintained by members and volunteers, and we share the space responsibly with the local community. Safety, respect, and cooperation are embedded in everything we do, from setting up targets to packing away after the last end of the day.

Warringah Archers is a smoke-free, SunSmart, and family-friendly club.
Our constitution and house rules, first formalised in 1995, continue to guide our approach to fairness, inclusivity, and good sportsmanship.

Looking to the Future

After fifty years, Warringah Archers remains as dynamic and welcoming as ever.
We honour our history while embracing the future, modernising equipment, coaching, and competition formats, and building a culture that values both tradition and innovation.

Whether your goal is to compete at national level, enjoy a weekend sport, or simply experience the calm focus that archery brings, you’ll find support and friendship on our shooting line.

We invite you to be part of the next chapter in our story.
Warringah Archers, fifty years strong, and still aiming higher.
